INSURANCE OPTIONS AND POLICIES

Insurance Packages
When you rent a car with Motion Autos in Corfu, Greece, we offer you a choice between two comprehensive insurance packages:

Collision Damage Waiver Coverage (CDW)
Our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is automatically included in the rental cost, with varying excess amounts (€500, €700, €1,100, €1,400, €1,700, €1,800 euros) based on the car model you choose. To ensure your peace of mind, we will place a temporary hold on your credit card for security purposes. It’s important to return the vehicle in the same condition you received it. A fee of 60 euros will apply if the car requires extensive cleaning. Please note that this insurance does not cover damages to the underside, tires, wheels, roof, interior, and glass parts (including the windscreen), unless such damages are caused by a third party during an accident. Any damages resulting from off-road driving are not covered, and in such cases, the renter assumes full responsibility, including towing charges. The rental price includes fire and theft insurance, subject to an excess of €500, €700, €1,100, €1,400, €1,700, or €1,800 euros depending on the car model.

Full Damage Waiver Coverage (FDW)
Our Full Damage Waiver (FDW) insurance gives you the opportunity to reduce your liability to just 100 euros. Please be aware that charges will apply for damages to the car’s interior, mirrors, and any loss or damage to antennae and wheel covers.

Important Notes:
All of our insurance options provide access to a 24/7 hotline and road assistance for your convenience.
None of our insurance packages cover damages resulting from off-road driving or any damage to the car’s interior.
When you choose Motion Autos in Corfu, you’re selecting a car rental service that prioritizes your safety and convenience.

24-Hour Roadside Assistance
We understand that emergencies can happen anytime. That’s why our rental includes 24-hour emergency roadside assistance in your rate. However, please note that in cases where extreme road conditions are beyond the reach of our roadside assistance, the lessee will be responsible for the associated costs.

Damage Policy
Ensuring a clear understanding of the vehicle’s condition is crucial. We provide a Vehicle Condition Report (VCR) at the beginning of your rental. It’s important to review and verify this report for accuracy. When you return the vehicle, we’ll conduct another inspection, noting any new damage that occurred during your rental period. Fair wear and tear is not included in this assessment. During peak times, we recommend allowing 20 to 30 minutes to complete the inspection with our staff and to address any damage concerns. If you’re unable to do so, any new damage will be assessed in your absence.

Hidden Damage:
Some damage may not be immediately apparent during a post-rental inspection, such as damage to inaccessible vehicle parts or when visibility is hampered by adverse lighting or weather conditions. If such damage is discovered, we will promptly notify you, providing evidence, before any charges are applied.

Damage Assessment and Charges
We follow three common scenarios for damage assessment:

i. Simple damage – agreed upon return
For easily identifiable damage that you agree upon during the return, we will apply charges based on our damage matrix, which will be included in your final invoice.

ii. Simple damage – not agreed upon due to your absence
If you are not present during the return, but the damage is straightforward, our staff will assess the charge using the damage matrix. You will be notified by mail or email, and charges will be included in the final invoice. We aim to complete this process within 24 hours of the rental’s conclusion. We are working to ensure that you receive damage notifications at least seven days before any credit card charges in the near future.

iii. Significant damage
In the case of substantial damage not covered by the damage matrix, we will engage our damage assessors for a thorough evaluation. They will send you a written notification, along with evidence, identifying the damage and the associated charges. This notification will be sent at least seven days before any credit card charges. We aim to complete this assessment within 30 to 90 days.

Notification and Evidence
We provide detailed evidence for any damage charges, including the Rental Agreement number, date, and return location, a damage appraisal from a repair body shop, invoices for repairs, a signed VCR, any Accident Report Form, photographs of the damage and odometer readings.

Damage Matrix:
We simplify the damage resolution process by using a damage repair matrix that lists the average repair costs for common and minor damages based on body shop rates for parts and labor.

Insurance Administrative Fees
In the event of an accident due to the renter’s liability, a non-refundable administrative fee of €50.00 is required to cover administrative expenses.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
The Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is a service designed to reduce your financial liability for damage to the rented vehicle and its accessories, provided it’s used in compliance with the rental agreement terms. Please be aware that all rentals have a non-waivable excess for which you are responsible in the case of vehicle damage during the rental period.

Categories A, B, C, D: Excess €800
Categories E, F, G: Excess €1200
It’s essential to understand that the liability reduction does not apply in specific circumstances, including but not limited to:

Striking overhead or overhanging objects.
Driving into barriers that are too low for the vehicle.
Entering a car park barrier prematurely.
Damaging the undercarriage on poor road conditions due to negligence.
Causing damage to the engine by driving on a beach or through flooded roads.
Using the wrong type of fuel or contaminating it.
Ignoring warning lights.
Misusing the handbrake or burning the clutch.
Damaging the wheel rim with a flat tire.
Installing unauthorized objects inside or outside the vehicle.
Transporting exceptionally dirty or odorous materials that require extra cleaning.
Damaging or losing keys.
Please note that you may still be held responsible for damages to specific car parts, including windscreens, antennas, glass, wheels, tires, undercarriage, locks, roof, and interior.

Full Insurance – Reduced Excess
For added peace of mind, we offer Full Insurance options that reduce your excess amount. The costs for Full Insurance are as follows:

Categories A, B, C, D: €12 per day with a €300 excess
Categories E, F, G: €15 per day with a €500 excess
The liability reduction provided by Full Insurance also excludes certain circumstances, such as those listed above.

Theft Protection (TP)
Theft Protection (TP) is an optional service available for €5, including VAT. It limits your liability to the stated excess amount (as indicated on your Rental Agreement) for each incident related to vehicle loss or damage caused by theft, attempted theft, or vandalism. Examples of incidents covered by TP include:

Damage resulting from breaking into the vehicle.
Attempted theft of the vehicle or its accessories (e.g., radio).
Acts of vandalism (e.g., bent aerial, broken mirror).
Theft of the entire vehicle.

What if Lost Keys
Please be aware that Motion Autos will charge for lost or damaged keys. These charges are not covered under the insurance excess or risk reduction packages. Renters will be liable for all costs related to key recovery, loss of use, replacement vehicles, and repairs.
